What 3 pieces of technology would you want for your room/job that you think would make a huge difference to your students? Please rank order the list with a complete explanation of why you want each technology.
(1) Second drop box in my office (or wireless or a new office!). Currently Lauren and I share the space and only one of us can be on line at a time. I think I could work much more efficiently and effectively if I had immediate internet access. Updating web pages, creating podcasts, developing classroom guidance plans come to mind immediately!
(2) Digital camera with video capability. OK, I'm a visual learner but I find the combination of picture and written word really powerful. I'd love to do a photostory project with the New Student Groups in August to share with our whole school. Our Media Center does have a few cameras but they always seem to be checked out or under heavy guard!
(3) Finally, I would love microphones and headphones. I liked the stand up ones we used in creating podcasts but could make the headset ones work too. I also liked just wearing the headphones with no sound sometimes because it muffled the outside noise and let me focus more on my work.
Thanks mimi PS I'd love to have borrowing privileges for ipods!
1..I would love to have a pod cast because my students will have fun using it. I could also use it for reading fluency activities.
2. Digital camera wih video capability. I could use it for PhotoStory activities and to take pictures of my students (with permission) to put on my news letter.
3. An extra student computer for my classroom. I like to use the computer for centers, but only have one. Two would be helpful.
I would like to have laptops for each child on a cart, a set of sentos and a digital camera.
The laptops could be used for reseach, writing, practice on various websites, e-mailing, completing assignments, etc.
The sentos could be used for quick assessment of skills. It would cut down on alot of paper. It makes learning interactive and fun.It would decrease the behavior problems and allows students to participate without being made fun of by their peers. It aso provides teachable moments.
The digital camera could be used to create photo stories, photos can be placed on my website, it can be used to explain concepts where students could use photos and text to make stories or books in writing class, etc.
Hey Having finished the day's work, I really think I would use the iPods and headphones enough to justify having them in the building. I generally have groups of 6-8 students so sets of 8 would be ideal! One camera would be just fine!
Hey everyone, Enjoyed getting to know each of you this week. I'd love to hear how your year is going. Have a great summer! mimi Happy Retirement--finally--Linda!

PSS
As long as we're asking--the docking station for the iPods would be really helpful too.
Thx

Happy Retirement--finally--Linda!
1. Podcast: to prepare messages for my parents on various parenting issues and PACT assignments.
2. Two new computers for my class. I have four in my classroom, but two of them needs work.
3. A headphone set: I like to listen to my voice mails and locating music for my students.
I could use several I-Pods/MP3 Players, Digital Camera(s)...15-20 each.
